How to Change a User's Email Address in Dialpad or Re-assign an existing Dialpad User license

Teams evolve, and email addresses change as your business needs adapt. Dialpad makes it easy to update a user's email address. Follow the steps below based on your sign-up method.

 

Who can use this?

Company and office admins on all Dialpad plans can change email addresses through open sign-up. If you've signed up with a Google or Microsoft account, the Google or Microsoft Admin must make the changes.

 

Changing Email Address for Google Workspace & Office 365 Users

If the user signed up using a Google Workspace (G Suite) or Office 365 account, the email update must be made within the respective productivity suite.

 

  1. The Google or Microsoft admin updates the email address in the productivity suite.

  2. The user logs into Dialpad using the updated email address.

  3. Dialpad automatically recognises the new email and adds it to the user account.

  4. The old email is retained as a secondary email address.

  5. (Optional) To remove the secondary email, contact support@untangled.com.au.

 

Tip: You can update the email address in Dialpad first (see the next section), but it won’t sync back to Google/Microsoft. You will still need to update the email in the productivity suite before the user can log in.

 

Changing Email Address for Open Sign-Up Users

If the user did not sign up with a Google or Microsoft account, follow these steps to update their email address in Dialpad.

 

  1. Navigate to Office Settings.

  2. Select Users.

  3. Find the user whose email address you need to change (use the search bar for faster results).

  4. Click Options (next to the user's account details) to access the drop-down menu.

  5. Select Admin.

  6. Click Edit Email Address.

  7. Enter the new email address.

  8. Click Confirm and Save.

Why can I still see a user's call and message history after updating their email?

Changing a user's email address does not delete their historic data. All call and message history associated with the previous email address remains available.

 

Can I delete a user’s data before changing their email address?

Yes! If you need to delete a user's data before updating their email, follow these steps:

  1. Delete the user from Dialpad.

  2. Send an invitation to the new email address.

 

Note: Once an account is deleted, any call metrics on your analytics page will reset.
