Overview
This guide explains how to activate international roaming packs when travelling overseas, ensuring you can stay connected with data, calls, and SMS with your Untangled TW (Telstra Wholesale) mobile service.

- A compatible mobile device (iPhone or Android)

Access to SMS (while in Australia or roaming abroad)
Steps
1. Enable Roaming on Your Device
2. Receive a Roaming Welcome SMS
3. Choose a Travel Pack Option
4. Send Travel ROAM Pack code via SMS to 179
1. Enable Roaming on Your Device
On iPhone (iOS)
- Open Settings
- Tap Mobile Service (or Cellular)
- Select your Telstra sim
- Toggle Data Roaming to On
On Android (Samsung, Google, etc.)

Open Settings.

Tap Connections or Network & Internet.

Select Mobile Network or tap SIMs then select Telstra

Toggle Data Roaming or Roaming to On.
💡 Tip: Roaming must be enabled on your device before the Travel Pack will work overseas.
2. Receive a Roaming Welcome SMS
When you arrive in an eligible roaming destination, you will receive a welcome SMS with available Travel Pack options.
3. Choose a Travel Pack Option
Review the Travel Pack Options:

4. Send Travel ROAM Pack code via SMS to 179
- Text the desired pack code (e.g., ROAM5) to 179.
Important Notes:
- SMS sent to 179 will be toll free and will not incur any end user or wholesale charges. The SMS recharge service is available to users both in Australia and users who are roaming.
- Please note that you should send this reply to 179, not “My Acct”
5. Receive Confirmation SMS
- You will receive a confirmation SMS once the roaming pack is successfully activated.
6. Check Balance or Expiry
- To check your roaming pack balance or expiry date, text BAL to 179.
7. Important Reminders
- Add a new pack only when your current one is used up — any unused allowances will be lost.
- Usage reminders are sent when you have 10MB, 5 minutes, or 5 SMS remaining.
- No reminders are sent when your pack expires.
- All Untangled TW Mobile plans come with Wi-Fi Calling & SMS, so you can stay connected even with weak mobile signal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What happens if I travel to a country not covered by a roaming pack?
A: You won’t be able to roam. Our advice is that you purchase a local SIM to be able to continue to make calls and roam.
Q. I received a welcome message in an eligible roaming destination. Will I also get a product opt-in reminder message if I don’t opt in immediately? Can I opt in as and when I need it in a roaming country?
A: Yes, you can opt into the travel packs anytime while you are in an eligible country. The welcome message is sent when you first connect to the network and after 7 days if you remain connected to the same roaming network.
Q. Will I be able to make Calls and SMS to other destinations covered in the packs?
A:Yes you can make calls and SMS to both Australia and to countries covered in the pack.
Q. Will i be able to receive calls and SMS If I don’t have a roaming pack on?
A: You will be able to receive SMS but not calls, if you don’t have a roaming pack on. * *You can make calls/SMS if you have access to WiFi.
Q. Will I be able to remove an IR travel pack?
A: Once activated, it is not possible to remove an active travel pack from an end-user
