New to Dialpad and unsure about the required format for uploading your contact list successfully?
Super Admin users can upload shared contact lists through their admin portals.
Where we need to go first
- Login to admin portal - https://dialpad.com/settings
- From the icons on the left side, click the gear icon (Admin Settings)
-
Select My Company from the drop-down menu at the top left
-
From the options provided choose Shared Contacts
-
Select Download CSV Template
Key Information to Fill Out in the Contact List Template
(Columns marked with an asterisk (*) are required when uploading the file.)
- *First_Name
- *Last_Name
Optional Columns
While the following fields are optional, it’s important to follow the correct formatting, as even minor errors can prevent you from uploading your shared contact list. If you encounter a "Syntax error: Unexpected Token" when uploading, consider the following:
- Email - ex. James@rainbow.com.au
- Phones – Make sure to add + before the number, no spaces (follow the format +61485385452).
- Company - Rainbow Inc. | Sydney Injury Lawyers | 24/7 Plumbing Services
- Role - Director, Manager, Customer Support
- URLs - https://www.untangled.com.au/
- Country - FR, AU, UK, NZ
Once completed, return to your Dialpad Admin Portal and upload the file under Admin Settings > My Company > Shared Contacts > Upload CSV.
Final Notes
(Based on our experience, these are common roadblocks that trigger a SyntaxError when uploading your Contact List.)
- Optional Columns – These can be removed if not needed in your contact list.
- Importing Contact List - Maximum of 500 contacts per upload.
- Country Code – Required only for International numbers
(ex. AU = +61483850480 | FR = +33109758351). - Company – Special characters and spaces are allowed.
- U.S. Numbers - Do not require a country code or abbreviation.
- Client with Multiple Numbers - If a client has multiple numbers, separate them with | without spaces (ex. +61412844940|+61422845950).
