My Jabra Headset is Not Working with my Dialpad on Chromebook

The Jabra Evolve2 65 UC is a premium wireless headset designed for professional calls and meetings. While it works well with Dialpad, using it on a Chromebook can be a little finnicky due to differences in how ChromeOS handles audio devices compared to Windows or macOS.

  • Audio switching to the wrong device after restart or reconnect

Because Jabra Direct (the main Jabra device management software) isn’t available for Chromebooks, there are some limitations in how a Chromebook user can update firmware or adjust advanced settings. Instead, Jabra offers alternative extensions for Chromebook users, download these extensions:

  • Jabra ChromeHost
    – A Chrome extension that enables Jabra devices to work smoothly with ChromeOS and Google Meet, helping deliver a seamless video conferencing and calling experience.

  • Jabra Device Connector – A browser extension that provides some basic device management and configuration tools for ChromeOS.

 

While Jabra devices are tested and certified to work with ChromeOS, these extensions only provide some of the functionality that Jabra Direct offers on other operating systems. This means:

  • Firmware updates and full device settings adjustments can only be done via Windows or macOS using Jabra Direct.

  • Chromebook users will need to occasionally connect their headset to a Windows or Mac device to update firmware and access advanced features.

  • Day-to-day use (calls, meetings, audio playback) works reliably on ChromeOS, but always check your Chromebook sound settings and Dialpad audio settings after restarting or reconnecting your headset.

1. Check Physical & Connection Basics

2. Check Chromebook Audio Settings

 

  • Click the time at the bottom right of the Chromebook.

  • Select the audio settings icon.

  • Ensure Jabra Link (USB) is set as both Output and Input device.

3. Check Dialpad Audio Settings

 

  • Open Dialpad app or browser app on the Chromebook.

  • Click the gear icon for settings.

  • Under Microphone and Speaker, select Jabra Link (USB).

  • Click Test to check audio output and microphone input.

 

 

 

4. Update Jabra Firmware (Windows / Mac Required)

 

Chromebooks can’t run Jabra Direct, so use another computer (Mac OS or Windows OS only) and why it is important for regular updates to Jabra firmware is done.

6. Reinstall Dialpad App (If Needed)

 

  • Uninstall Dialpad from Chromebook.

7. Test Without Dongle

 

  • Remove the USB dongle.

  • Pair directly to Chromebook via Bluetooth.

  • If it works without the dongle, the dongle may need replacement.
