How to Factory Reset your Yealink DECT Handsets and Base Station

Overview

Sometimes your Yealink cordless phone or base station may not work as expected — calls may drop, registration may fail, settings may be incorrect, or the device needs to be configured to a different user. A factory reset restores your device to its original settings and can help fix these issues.

💡 Tip: Only perform a factory reset if necessary. This will remove all stored configurations, registered handsets, and network settings.

Tools Required

  • Yealink DECT handset(s)

  • Yealink Base Station (DECT)

  • Power supply for handset and base station

  • Access to the base station’s web portal (optional, if hardware reset doesn’t fully clear settings)

Steps

1. Factory Reset the DECT Handset

2. Factory Reset the Base Station

3. Factory Reset via Web GUI (if hardware reset fails)

4. After the Reset

1. Factory Reset the DECT Handset

  • On the handset, press Menu
  • Navigate to Settings > Advanced Settings > Reset.

  • Enter the admin PIN if prompted (default is usually 0000).

  • Confirm Factory Reset.

  • Wait for the handset to restart and display the default screen.

📝 Note: This will remove all stored contacts and registered base stations.

2. Factory Reset the Base Station

  • Make sure the base station is powered on.
  • Press and hold the Paging/Register button for 10–15 seconds until the LED flashes (refer to your base station model’s LED guide).
  • Release the button; the base station will reboot and restore factory defaults.

💡 Tip (for Customers): If you want a completely fresh start, make sure handsets are powered off or removed during the reset to prevent auto re-registering.

3. Factory Reset via Web GUI (if hardware reset fails)

If the hardware reset doesn’t fully clear old settings, you can reset through the base station’s web portal:

  • Find the IP address of the base station: On a handset, go to Menu > Status > Base > IPv4.
  • Log in to the web interface (default username: admin, default password: admin — unless changed).
  • Navigate to Settings > Upgrade > Reset to Factory (menu may vary by model).

  • Click Reset, then confirm when prompted.
  • The base station will reboot and restore factory settings.

Important Note (For Dialpad provisioned phones): If the Yealnk DECT has been registered on a Dialpad account, the credentials are: admin, and the Deskphone Settings password found in the customer's Dialpad Admin Portal > Company > Deskphone Settings

⚠️ Warning (for All Users): Resetting from the GUI will immediately reboot the device and erase all configurations. Do not proceed unless you are ready to reconfigure the base station.

4. Post-Reset Steps

  • Reconnect the base station to the network.

  • Re-register handsets if needed (see registration instructions).

  • Reconfigure network, SIP, and extension settings.

  • Test all functionality with a test call.

  • Reach out to our Support team for configuration to HBX or Dialpad User/ Room.

💡 Tip: Keep your SIP credentials and network settings handy before performing a reset. This makes re-registering faster and easier.
