- Tick the option to Receive email notifications when you get a new voicemail.
3. Navigation on Answering Calls
- Optionally enable: Automatically navigate to the conversation view with a contact when answering a call from them
🔍What it does:
When this setting is enabled and you answer a call in the Dialpad app or web interface, it will automatically open the conversation view (chat/message thread) with that contact. This view includes:
-
Call controls
-
Messaging history
-
Shared files
-
Voicemail and recordings
-
Call summary or transcript (if available)
Why it's useful:
-
Lets you quickly reference prior interactions while talking to the caller
-
Helps you message them or send files during the call
-
Saves you from manually navigating to their contact profile mid-call
4. Call Blocking & Spam Prevention
Prevent unwanted calls by enabling filters:
Option | Effect |
Anonymous callers | Block callers with hidden caller ID |
New callers | Block callers who have never contacted you before |
High spam score | Automatically block suspected spam calls |
Blocked calls go to your Spam tab in your Dialpad inbox.
5. Automatic Call Recording
If enabledby your admin, Automatic Call Recordings will be turned on for all your calls.
⚠️ Contact your Dialpad Admin to enable this feature.
6. Remote Screen Control
Enable this option if you’d like to allow remote screen control during calls (when supported).
⚠️ Note: Dialpad Meetings must be downloaded for this feature to work. Download it for free here: Dialpad.com/download
7. Advanced Call Settings
For Calls to My Peronal Line
This section allows users to control how their personal line handles incoming calls - especially when they're already on another call or unable to answer.
Ring Duration
You can select how long you want your devices to ring before the call is considered missed and routed according to your missed call settings.
-
Default: 30 seconds
-
Custom: 10s to 45s
- 10s is equivalent to 2 rings
- 45s is equivalent to 8 rings
⚠️ Note: If you're forwarding calls to your mobile device and select a ring duration longer than 30 seconds, your mobile carrier voicemail may pick up before Dialpad's voicemail does.
Call Handling (When You’re on Another Call)
Choose what happens when you're already on a call and a new one comes in:
-
Call Waiting (default)
You’ll hear a beep or see an alert for the new incoming call, allowing you to choose whether to answer or ignore it. -
Play Busy Signal
The caller will hear a busy tone or be redirected based on your missed call rules. -
Go to Advanced Missed Call Routing Options
Automatically bypasses call waiting and routes the new call according to your advanced missed call handling preferences (see below).
Advanced Missed Call Routing
This defines what happens to calls that are not answered within the ring duration.
You can choose one of the following options:
-
To voicemail
The caller will hear your voicemail greeting and can leave a message. -
To a message (no voicemail)
The caller hears a message, but voicemail is not available. Ideal for short notices or closure announcements. -
To a team member / room phone / external number
Redirects the call to another Dialpad user, Dialpad Configured Device, or external number. -
To a department, office, or contact center
Transfers the call to a group or shared line for broader coverage. -
To an automated response menu
The caller is routed to an IVR menu (if configured), which allows them to self-navigate options like pressing 1 for support, etc.
Pro Tip: Here are two methods to forward personal calls to an external number, based on your preferences:
Option 1: Receive Calls Before Forwarding
If you'd like to receive calls before they are forwarded to an external number:
- Set the ring duration to 10–15 seconds (2–4 rings).
- In Your Settings, go to Call Handling and select Advanced Missed Call Routing.
- Choose to route calls to a team member, room phone, or external number. If it’s your first time adding an external number, you'll need to assign a name to it.
- Press Enter to complete the update
Option 2: Forward Calls Directly to an External Number
If you want calls to be sent directly to an external number without ringing your Dialpad number:
- Follow Steps 2–4 from Option 1 to set up Advanced Missed Call Routing.
- Open your Dialpad application and click your account image (top right corner).
- In the drop-down menu, toggle ON the Do Not Disturb button—this step is essential to ensure calls go directly to the external number without ringing your Dialpad.
This way, your calls are routed exactly how you need them!
📌 Final Tips:
- Review your settings regularly
- Voicemail recordings that you want to upload should be in .MP3 format
- Be mindful of ring duration if forwarding to an external number. We'd recommend to set this to 0 so it rings straight to the external number anmake sure to set yourself on DND status on your personal profile on the Dialpad app.
- Enabling Do Not Disturb ensures calls are directly forwarded to the next endpoint without ringing your Dialpad.
- Automatic Call Recording. As a user, you don't have the ability to toggle this feature on or off. Only Dialpad Admins can make changes to this setting.
