Dialpad AI learns from every conversation, helping you personalise your experience and improve transcription accuracy.
Set up a Company Dictionary to ensure everyday (and unique) terms are accurately captured and transcribed across your team. Keeping it up to date allows AI to capture conversations more accurately and optimise key moment usage.
Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your Company Dictionary.
Why it is important
Transcription accuracy can be influenced by factors like:
-
Background noise
-
Crosstalk
-
Accents
-
Key terms
-
How transcripts are normalised
A Company Dictionary helps ensure that important words—those unique to your business—are captured accurately, improving overall transcription quality.
What to add
There’s no limit to the number of keywords you can add to your Company Dictionary, so feel free to add as many as needed.
Examples include:
-
Workplace abbreviations: SaaS, RFP, RFO, PRD, CSAT, CX
-
Competitors: Nike, Adidas, PayPal
-
Product names: Dialpad, Dialpad Meetings
-
Customer names: Motorola, Uber, DOMO
-
Technical terms: WebRTC, Opus, Telephony, Codecs
You can also add pronunciation hints to help Dialpad correctly recognise keywords. For example, for "Dialpad," you might add a hint like "rhymes with Smile Pad."
What not to add
When adding keywords, keep in mind that only English words are allowed.
To ensure better transcription quality, avoid using the following:
-
Common acronyms: LLC, Inc.
-
Industries: Real Estate, Consulting, Recruiting, Tech
-
Email addresses
-
URLs
-
Common names: Jane, Smith, Johnson
-
Common workplace actions: Email, ping, sync, collaborate
Best Practices
Keep Dialpad AI Settings Enabled: Ensure that your Dialpad AI settings are turned on at all times. This allows the AI to continuously learn from your conversations, improving transcription accuracy over time. Keeping the settings active helps the AI better understand your specific needs and speech patterns, ensuring more accurate transcriptions.
-
Speak Clearly and at a Steady Pace: Avoid speaking too fast or too slow. Clear, steady speech helps the AI better understand and transcribe words accurately.
-
Use a High-Quality Microphone: A good microphone reduces background noise and enhances voice clarity, leading to better transcription results.
-
Ensure Good Audio Quality: Minimise distractions and background noise (e.g., people talking, machines running) during calls to improve transcription accuracy.
-
Minimise Crosstalk: Avoid speaking over others. Crosstalk can confuse the AI and lead to incorrect transcriptions.
-
Review and Edit Transcriptions Regularly: Regularly reviewing and correcting transcriptions helps the AI learn from mistakes and improve over time.
-
Use Clear and Distinct Phrasing: Avoid mumbling, slurring, or speaking too quickly. Make sure each word is pronounced distinctly.
-
Train the AI with Pronunciation Hints: If there are complex or uncommon words, add pronunciation hints to help the AI recognise them accurately.
-
Avoid Monologues: Engage in conversational speech rather than long monologues. AI performs better with back-and-forth interactions.
-
Check for Software and Hardware Updates: Ensure that your device, app, and microphone drivers are up-to-date for optimal performance.
-
Provide Feedback on Errors: If transcription errors occur, providing feedback to Dialpad can help improve the system.
